This is my new Falco V. I have had it since the beginning of the year, but have only just finished getting it built up by Churchill Cycles. Having a race bike hasn't seemed like a very high priority over the last couple of months so I was in no rush.
In most ways it is the same as the Falco V I had previously, which I reviewed here:
Falco V Review
The only real difference is the paint work. I have also been told this one should be a little bit stiffer, so I will be interested to see if I can tell once I am riding.
Whilst I was a big fan of the matt black finish on my old Falco V, this new one in gloss black with red highlights looks really good too. Very nice in the flesh. In fact I think I kind of prefer it. If anything the red makes the dramatic styling of the V stand out more.
As nice as it is having a new bike, it just feels great to have a race bike in the house again. That is really what has made me feel like I am on the way back recently. Having the tools of the trade sitting there reminding me what racing is about. Getting in and fiddling again has made me feel like an athlete.
The new bike, combined with how good my shoulder has been feeling recently has got me itching to get out there and ride on the road again. So much so that that is the plan for tomorrow. I need to get to the city to help out at a race in the local tri series, so I figure I might as well ride there. That way I don't have to worry about parking, and I get to ride my new bike. Win, win.
As fun as riding tomorrow will be (hopefully) I really can't wait to get out and ride this bike in anger. That is still going to be a few weeks away, but now I am more excited than ever
