Yesterday I mentioned I was going to go jogging this morning. That was a good plan because it would have given me something to write about today. But the jog didn't happen, sooo.....
How is this weather hey?
Just kidding. Well only kind of, I didn't go jogging, but the plan is to go tonight instead. I woke up this morning feeling a bit stiff and sore and generally old. I felt that my body could do with a day of moving around before going jogging, rather than just heading out cold. Plus, you know, it was freezing this morning and I don't like that. On a serious note, when it is cold like this morning was it can be pretty tough to warm up. I usually have a bit of a walk before I start to run, but on mornings like this one I usually find I am starting to shiver by the end of my walk. Not exactly an effective warm up. Heading out this afternoon should make the warm up etc just a bit easier.
Other than that, I will probably jump on the bike tomorrow for a bit of a spin about. Should be fun.
Now I may not be training properly at the moment, but I have never found that to be a good reason to stop spending money on gear. With that in mind I picked up this today.
I am hoping that this finally, finally, solves my Heart Rate monitor issues. Why this particular monitor I hear you ask. Well, it is kind of simple really, DC Rainmaker (see link on the left) says the Magellan monitors are the best he has used. That is enough recommendation for me. I read that a while ago, but I haven't had much joy tracking one down. However, I noticed last week that JB Hifi have started selling them so I thought I would swing by and grab one. To make the deal even sweeter, it is cheaper than I could replace my Garmin strap for too. Not where I would usually buy my training gear from, but if it is a good product, then I will happily not care.
This heart rate monitor (like lots of them) uses ANT+ to talk to the associated watch. What that means in English is that as long as your watch uses ANT+, then this heart rate monitor will work with your device. All the Garmin products use ANT+, so this should work with my various Garmin products no problems. Hopefully this heart rate monitor has a slightly longer life expectancy than the various Garmin ones I have been using.
