New beginnings

Quiet day on the training front today, but not entirely devoid of triathlon related activities. Today I attended the first AGM of Western Australia's newest tri club Break Your Limits. One of the easiest AGMs I have ever attended actually. I think I spent more time driving there than we did AGMing. It is always nice to go to an AGM and feel no pressure to join the executive committee. Very much all in hand. It was a good chance to see some of the people who were instrumental in the club becoming a club and to find out a bit about where they see the club going. Pretty enthusiastic team. All very interesting stuff. Plus, you know, they had food, which I like, so I am always in favour of that.

The other triathlon related activity was bike cleaning and building. To my shame my P5 has been sitting in its bike bag since I got back to Perth last Monday. To be honest it is still mostly sitting in its bike bag, although some of it is now scattered around the living room, which I view as progress. The bike cleaning bit was cleaning the training bike which got fairly fithly on yesterday's ride. Always very satisfying cleaning a bike. A task that has a clear beginning and end and a tangible result.

Tomorrow morning I am going to have a gentle jog. I was going to say 'try' jogging. But that isn't really correct. I am more than capable of running, it is the running without pain that I have been failing at. The jog tomorrow is on instruction of my physio and the idea is to evaluate the pain in my hip flexor and compare it against what I have been feeling in the past. The should give us an idea as to whether the treatment we are doing is being effective. The hip flexor is feeling better in general, however, certain movements still hurt and I am not sure if those certain movements have improved much. It is sort of like, it used to be sore all the time, now it is just sore some of the time, but those times are just as sore as they have always been. We will see how it goes tomorrow. My gut feel is that it has improved, I am just not sure how that will manifest when running.
