Not Dead

That's right, I am not dead. Despite me being offline for the longest period in the history of this blog (three days I think), it is not due to my demise.

Rather than being in a grave I am currently sitting in the middle of the jungle in Sumatra. And yes, when I say middle of the jungle I do mean it. It took us 7 hours to get here by car. So my tardiness in doing updates is more due to difficulty in getting to a computer which is connected to the internet and the time in which to use it.

Work up here has been pretty flat out and not left much time or energy for updates. Or training for that matter.

In fact the later was getting me down a fair bit until yesterday. Despite having access to a gym most days I just haven't been able to get any training done. Tuesday training just hadn't fitted in. Wednesday we spent nearly 10 hours travelling and once again circumstances didn't come to the party. Yesterday I was about ready to just give up and wait instead until we were out of the jungle in order to get some training in.

However, last night, after dinner, I decided that I would head out and get some training done anyway. So last night I found myself on the treadmill again, getting a bit of a run done. I am so glad I went to the effort because straight away, and then still this morning, I felt a million times better.

The running is still just feeling okay. Well actually the running if feeling not bad, but just not pain free. A lot less pain that I have had for a while, but still a bit of groin pain. The improvements are coming I think. Slow and steady I can live with.

Now that I have trained once, I am now fairly confident that I can do it again, so the plan is to head to the gym again tonight and jump on the bike for a while. The exercise bike they have is nothing particularly special and so I am not expecting miracles, however, I am taking the view that something is better than nothing.

Other than that, 5 days down, 7 more to go, not that I am counting. I sure am looking forward to getting back home, seeing the family, and getting back into routine.
