Getting Busy

You know it is nearly Christmas when you are seeing things like this at training.

Great session for the second last Swim Smooth session of 2018. A tough but fair swim, something with a genuine bit of pace that certainly pinched a bit by the end.

The session today was all about max pace. There was lots of steadier stuff in between, but the key bits of the session were some max effort pieces, some 50s, some 100s and even a broken 200. Ouchy, but kind of fun too.

As with the swim last week I was once again happy with the pace I was able to sustain in the efforts. I didn't feel as good this week, and the efforts hurt more, but I was able to get down into that 1:13min/100m pace again, which as I mentioned last week, is pretty good going for me. Very satisfying.

Following on from the swim this morning I am about to embark on what could end up being a very painful couple of days of triathlon related training.

Tomorrow the plan is to head out for a run with a couple of mates of mine that I haven't caught up with for a while. My main concern is that these mates are Janine Willis, multiple AG World Champion and Gary Couanis who raced in Kona in October this year. As I have mentioned numerous times recently, my running is hardly in a stellar way at the moment, so this run tomorrow could be a little strenuous. They have promised a run that will be slow and short, but those are relative terms and I don't think my definition is the same as theirs. Still, I think I know my limits pretty well and I am definitely not above bailing early if it is going to save me. Never know it might even be fun.

Following on from the running plan for tomorrow, at the moment the idea is also to do a bit more swimming on Sunday. Some other mates of mine swim every Sunday morning at one of the local beaches and they asked if I wanted to come along on Sunday, at the moment I am thinking that I might. As I have mentioned, swimming is feeling okay at the moment, but that is over 100m, swimming 3000m in open water is an entirely different kettle of fish. I am relatively confident I will be fine to make it though, but I make no promises.

I suspect by Sunday night I could be a little worn out.
