Not to bad

Following on from my post yesterday, part 1 of my weekend of triathlon related activity is complete. I survived the run with Gary and Janine.

I am actually pretty happy with how it went, I managed to soldier through 12km at a touch under 5:00min/km and I suspect if it had come to it I probably could have run a but further (but not that much).

I will admit to being a little surprised at how the 12km felt, not too bad at all. Hardly fatigue free, but it didn't really worry me. I might not be feeling the same in the morning, but for now I am happy. It makes me think I could probably afford to be a bit more ambitious in my running plans from here. I had been taking running very slow and steady, but I suspect I could probably push my weekly runs out to 10km without too much concern. Something to think about.

Besides the run, most of today has been spent hiding from the heat and doing some last minute shopping. Today was super hot in Perth, the hottest day of Summer so far, maxing out at a touch over 40 degrees Celsius. The sort of day where it is really too hot to be doing anything, so we didn't. Either spending time playing inside or being in the pool. I did unfortunately have to venture to the shops, which was a predictably horrible experience 3 days before Christmas, but I shouldn't need to do it again. Fingers crossed.

With the run from this morning behind me, now it is time to get ready for a bit of open water swimming in the morning. The run this morning has given me some confidence that the swim will be fine, and I am sure it will be. 3000m of steady swimming should be something that I can cope with. In fact I am almost looking a little forward to it. Besides if it all goes wrong, I can always get out and walk back...
