I have been training a guy since around the new year and he has been one of those perfect athletes. Never complains, always gets the training done, or tries to the fullest of his ability. Works hard, trains hard. You know the story.
Anyway, over the weekend he ran the marathon for the Perth City to Surf and he smashed a good 7 minutes off his PB. Missed out on going under 3 hours by a whisker, but still did a great time on a very tough course. Amazing effort.
However, that is only the tip of the iceberg. Over the course of this season he has done PBs in:
- Olympic Distance triathlon
 - Half Ironman Distance triathlon
 - 5km run
 - 10km
 - Half Marathon
 - Marathon

Pretty much every distance he has covered this year he has a achieved a PB. As well as the PBs he has managed milestones like going under 40 minutes for 10km for the first time, as well as the near 3 hour time mentioned above.
It really has been a bit of a dream season.
Where has this dream season come from? Well, as I alluded to before, I don't think you need to look too hard. I don't think it is a coincidence that the guy who turns up to training every time, does what was asked, doesn't make excuses etc is the guy kicking the goals on race day. It is not rocket science.
Obviously there is a lot more to a successful season than that, this athlete has recovered well, juggled training, study and work well, planned his season well. The list of things he has done right this season is a pretty long one. However, the main thing he has done right is his training.
Do the work, get the rewards. It really isn't more complicated than that. The results back this up every time.
