Survived

Well blow me down, I survived a swim session. Trust me, I am surprised as you are.

The swim this morning down at Daryl's session was a nice little introduction back into the pool. A few higher intensity 100s, 200s and 300s with plenty of recovery was perfectly aligned with my current capabilities. I wasn't really sure how it would go, this being my 3rd swim in about 6 months, but in the end I got through the session just fine. Turns out I am still fit enough to get through 3km of swimming. Plus sitting a few back from the front of the group meant that my pace was limited by the person in front of me, which rather saved me from myself. Having the pace controlled left me free to work a bit harder, but not too hard, which meant I got to the end of the session still feeling good. In the end I really quite enjoyed it.

Besides, how could I not enjoy swimming here.

Besides having a bit of a fun swim it was also great to catch up with a bunch of folks from Daryl's squad. It was nice to see just how many familiar faces there were. Nice bit of chat.

As I wrote yesterday, my wife also came down for her first taste of squad swimming. The pace of her lane was a bit quicker than she was after, but she enjoyed the session all the same and has agreed to come back Thursday, so it can't have been that bad. It was great to have her down there.

Holiday wise today has been a nice quiet day, no big adventures, but rather a more relaxed day just pottering around, which is exactly what we were after.

Tomorrow there is a bit more pottering on the agenda, plus a few more sessions with Daryl and his squad, this time a bit of a ride and a jog. Should be another wonderful day.
