Distracted

I am going to be straight up at the start of this post, my typing for this blog may or may not be particularly comprehensible as I am typing this and watching Stage 5 of the Tour de France at the same time. I make no apologies.

Talking about the tour though, how was Stage 4. Talk about controversy. I am not enough of a cycling aficionado to know whether Sagan is guilty as charged or not, however, the general consensus of the interwebs is that Cavendish seems to be at least partially at fault too. Which ever is the case, it is this sort of development and controversy that makes the tour so exciting. Watching the start of Stage 4 it was looking like it was going to be a fairly bog standard sprinters stage. Long and just a little dull. Who would have guessed that it was going to end with so much excitment and the expulsion of one of the peleton's most popular cyclists. Just goes to show that anything can happen.

As a parochial Aussie I am of course hopping that just about anything will happen for Richie Porte tonight. Stage 5 is being built up as the first chance for the GC riders to show just what they have got. Often when these stages are built up, they result in a fairly tame stage where the main contenders mark each other and end up riding across the line together. However, there is always a chance that we will see some fireworks tonight with successful attacks from the GC riders. That is of course what we are all hoping for, and with any luck the fireworks will be coming from Porte.

Away from the Tour, a very nice holiday day up in Darwin today. A bit of exercise and a bit of relaxing. The exercise part involved a bit of time on the bike and a bit of a jog tonight. Nicely, both the ride and the run were done with coach Daryl Stanley and a few of his athletes who are all preparing for various Ironman races later in the year. It was great to meet some of Daryl's current athletes and get to know some new faces. Always nice to do some exercise with other people too.

Exercising up in Darwin was as pleasant as it always is, however, the weather at the moment is a bit warmer and more humid than it would usually be at this time of year. That made for some rather sweaty sessions today, reminding me just what exercise can be like in Darwin at less ideal times of year. Still, very nice to be out with blue skies and warm weather rather than in the cold and rain that Perth is currently experiencing.

Another nice relaxing holiday day is on the cards for tomorrow too. A bit of exercise in the morning and a bit of socialising and chilling for the rest of the day. The exercise part of tomorrow will be in the form of a swim down with Daryl's swim squad again. The swim went pretty alight on Tuesday so I am hoping it goes okay again tomorrow too. We shall see.

Now if you will excuse me I have Stage 5 of the tour to watch.
