Day 2

There we go, all done. I have now done my Triathlon Development Coaching Course.

Well sort of done. I just have the small matter of completing the 44 page question booklet, doing a training plan and getting 20 hours of coaching practice before getting signed off by an approved assessor.

So basically there.

Today the course was just as interesting as yesterday and if anything a little bit more mind melting since we covered even more theory. None of the theory was boring, stuck in a classroom type stuff though, rather it was all quite involving and very educational.

The practical parts of today were all about the bike, but unfortunately they were a lot briefer than they were supposed to be. Unfortunately this weekend has ended up being the first wet weekend of autumn/winter and so while we did get out for a brief bit of bike skill practice, it was cut rather short by squalls and threats of lightning.

The rain and lightning also put an end to our planned transition practice, which meant that our transition session ended up being done in the classroom. Literally. Transition rack, bikes, the whole bit. Slightly abridged, but still educational.

Now that the course is done I am now having to sit down and navigate through the next few weeks of coaching type activities. I have my work book to finish, my prac to get done etc.

Practical experience wise my plan is to keep doing what I have been doing, following around Paul Newsome and Steve Gleeson as much as I can. If I keep going the way I have I should be able to get my required practical hours in about 4 weeks or so. Luckily for me both Paul and Steve are approved assessors and so hopefully that will make the assessment bit a little easier.

Things are moving in exciting directions in the coaching space at the moment, to the point that I need to have a sit down and get it all straight in my head. I have the requirements of the course to complete, I will be helping out at Swim Smooth a bit more intensively for the next two weeks and there are also some other exciting coaching developments in the works which I will be announcing soon.

All cool stuff.

The last few months has seen a very dramatic shift in the direction of my life, shifts that I never would have seen coming 6 months ago. Now that some of those changes are really starting to take shape I can't wait to see where they lead.
