Blurry again

Another blurry kind of day today.

Ever since I lost one of my contact lenses on Wednesday I have been struggling a little with my new contacts. They have been comfy enough, but I just haven't really been getting much clarity. The world has stayed rather fuzzy.

After struggling to see much for two days I finally got around to checking my contacts today and realised that I have had them back to front, right to left and vice-versa. Whoops. All good now though, luckily I was only doing low risk things like driving etc.

Besides not seeing very well, the other thing I was up to today was spending some time down the pool for a bit of time on the pool deck at Swim Smooth. As usual it was a fun and educational experience, however I did have my first 'tough coaching' experience. Today's training session was the Swim Smooth Threshold Friday session, however, unfortunately this morning was also time for some rather torrential rain. This meant that the swimmers weren't the only ones getting wet at the pool today.

Up until now I have had a pretty easy time of it on the pool deck. It has been getting chilly, but other than that sessions have been rather pleasant. Today I got a look at what coaching is like when it is less pleasant. You know of course that exercise occurs even when the weather isn't behaving, after all you train in it yourself. However, this morning was a good reminder that a coaches job goes on when the weather turns nasty too.

In the end it wasn't all that bad on the pool deck, I have a big warm, water proof jacket for just such occasions, however, it was a reminder that coaching isn't always sunshine and lollipops.

Speaking of coaching, my Level 1 Triathlon Australia Development coach course starts tomorrow. Tomorrow we are covering running, swimming and some theory, with Sunday covering the bike and transition sections (as well as more theory). I am very interested to see how it goes. I suspect that a big chunk of the course will be revision, however, I think I will learn a lot too. Whatever it contains, I am really looking forward to it.
