Three years today

Happy Birthday to me.

Well okay, not happy birthday to me exactly, but more to this website. You see this blog is three years old today. Can you believe it? I have been writing this for three years now.

That time has seen 1043 posts, which by my count means I have missed 53 days of posting out of the three years. That is a record I am particularly proud of. If you read many athlete blogs I think by far the most common type of blog entry is the classic one that starts with 'I haven't posted in a while...'. When I finally made the decision to write this blog I was determined to make sure that wasn't me. If I was going to do it I wanted to make sure the updates were regular. Writing everyday may seem like an extreme interpretation of regular, but I figured it would be an easy schedule to remember. Still, I wasn't really sure how long I would be able to keep up writing everyday, so I am amazed to be here three years later and find that it is still going and that I am still enjoying every minute of it.

The past three years have seen a gradual evolution of this blog. What started out essentially as a training diary has grown to include race reports, advice on gear and even some reviews. All these parts of the blog have provided me with new writing challenges and they are all things that I have really enjoyed doing. They seem to also be the things that are most popular on the blog with my two most viewed pages on the site being the race report for Busselton Ironman and my review for the Cervelo S5.

Speaking of views, it has been really gratifying to watch the site grow as I have very gradually carved out my own little bit of the Internet. It is only a tiny bit I will admit, but I am very proud of what I have and I have to say a big thank you to the people who keep coming back to the site regularly. I will admit that I still find it surprising when people come up to me and tell me that they read my site. I always struggle to believe that it is more than my parents, my wife and my coach reading. But in the last three years there have been almost 70000 people come through this site. Not big numbers by a large margin, but a number that I am proud of.

So thanks to everyone who comes back day after to day to have a read of my random ramblings. Thanks too if you have just happened to land here while wandering through the Interweb. Come back again another time.

It has been fun writing this for the last three years. Hopefully the next three years are just as good.
