Homecoming

Phew, made it home. As I mentioned yesterday, I think we were all ready to be home by today. You know when even your 6 year old is asking about going home that your holiday has come to its natural end.

Good to be home too. It can be nice getting away from it all, but it can be nice getting back to it too. I must admit that I wasn't able to completely disconnect on this mini-break. I am too early in my training rebuild to not be totally pre-occupied with training. Knowing that I was going to have to re-organise training a bit this week kept playing on my mind. Plus I have had a few work issues that kept coming up. Not what you want when you are trying to relax a little bit.  Those issues are probably part of the reason why I am happy to be back. But that isn't all of it, there is just simply something nice about getting on with life after a little bit of time away from it.

In that vein I was on the Kickr this afternoon. One of the things I wasn't able to do while I was away was ride, so that is the first thing I did once I got back. Often when we get back from Guilderton I am so shattered that the last thing that I feel like doing is exercise, but for some reason I felt fine today. A bit of time on the Kickr seemed like no big deal. The session was another good one. Intervals again, but this time they were a slight bit longer than I have been doing, but at race pace power level, rather than over race pace like they usually are. They felt really good. The race pace felt easily sustainable, which I guess is kind of the point.

Things are really starting to feel on track. I know running is a long way off pace, but it is at least starting to feel like it is pointing in the correct direction. Swimming is in a similar position. Both of those will just take time. I am at a point where I am pushing both of those legs about as hard as I think I can without over doing it. Particularly the running. Always such a balancing act. The bike has been feeling good for a while now and continued to do so today. One out of three is not bad.

Time to crash into bed. More Kickr in the morning.
