Returning

Yep, okay, I know, I didn't get to doing an update yesterday. I got home safely and everything, but it was just a long day and so by the time I was settled back home I just plain ran up of time.

Still as I said, I got home safely, and what was a long day of travel with many modes of transport went smoothly enough. Now I am back though and ready to get back to my real job.

To that end, I had a good swim session earlier today. Today was my first session back with Swim Smooth since the Japan 70.3 many weeks ago. I was a little apprehensive to say the least. I had made plans to go down and swan about behind one of the slower groups, ease my way back in. Once I got there though coach Paul suggested I jump into my usual spot in the squad and just hold on. Which is exactly what I did. Not necessarily well, but I got through. Part way through the session amidst much pain I made plans to drop back to the slower squad, but in the end I stuck it out and got through the session. It was a great feeling to make it through holding on with the quicker group. Nice to actually get out and do the work. Feels like I have finally made a start on the road back to race fitness.

The road back continues tomorrow with a bit of riding. Hopefully riding on one of these actual roads I have heard so much about. Seriously, between the weather and being sick it feels like it has been weeks since I have ridden outside. The forecast for tomorrow is looking good though and I think everything is on track for the Cervelo S5 to have a bit of an outing. Should be fun.
