Good solid morning out on the bike this morning. Lovely spin around the river. Such a pretty route, although a very chilly breeze was blowing ensuring that I was once again wearing most of my cycling kit.
It was certainly the best ride I have had since my return to training. Probably fair to say that I may have gone a bit hard, but there were lots of other cyclists out to play with and I am a sucker for sprint challenge. As a result I think I may have set a new flat road highest speed for myself.
The ride this morning was only really the entree to the day though. The main event is coming up shortly. Tonight is the night of the annual Break Your Limits Tour de France dinner. Wait, you may ask, haven't you done that already? No, that was the annual Break Your Limits Giro d'Italia dinner. This is a different race entirely, with associated different restaurant. What can I say, we are a tri club that likes dinner.
My significant other and I have only been to this event once before and it was awesome. It is held at a French restaurant here in Perth called Chez Pierre and the food is pretty special. Very much looking forward to it. Will try and be good in terms of indulgences, but it is so tasty.
Swimming tomorrow morning might be a tougher ask though. If there is anything that will motivate restraint tonight it will be the knowledge that I have a hard threshold swim session awaiting me tomorrow.
Still, those are concerns for tomorrow. Tonight is about the food.
