Training Morning

Okay, so my plan of not indulging to much at dinner last night wasn't entirely successful. I wouldn't say I overindulged, but I didn't exactly hold back either. But boy was the food good.

Nice solid morning of training stuff today. Morning started off with a solid swim with Swim Smooth. Good little threshold set, a mix of 100s, 200s and 300s. I ended up leading the second half of the main set which makes for a good little bit of extra work. Still, as I have said many times before, there is no substitute for getting to the front of the lane and pushing your own water. Certainly makes for a tough session, but your work is always rewarded in the long run.

After the swim it was time to catch up on the run session that I was supposed to do last night but which got postponed so that I could stuff my face with rich French food. Session went well. Exactly the same session as Tuesday, but with a bit more speed. Probably more speed than I should have had really. I well know that one of the major causes of running injuries is people pushing themselves too far too fast. I know this, yet I make that classic mistake time and time again. I should know better really. Anyway, this morning was an example of me not knowing better. I got away with it this time, but really I need to sit down and have a good hard talk to myself. Was nice to be running again without pain though.

After my run it was straight over to Sportreat for a massage. Since I am back to training I thought I would also get back into the routine of regular massages. Besides this first week back of proper training has left me a bit sore. Particularly across the shoulders from swimming. Sore or not though, massage therapist Amy sure didn't hold back. Ouch. But in a good way I guess. I am sure I will be glad by tomorrow. Probably.

On the bike in the morning. It is supposed to be my first session back on the P5, but I will see in the morning if the weather is going to come to that party. We are just in the middle of some rain, which does occasionally occur in Perth during winter. The forecast is for more rain in the morning, which could mean anything really. It may mean I am on the trainer though if it is heavy enough. I will wait until the morning to make that decision.

It is good to be feeling good again though.
