A whole lot of nothing

It has been one of those days where we have seen just how busy we can make ourselves without actually achieving anything. Turns out you really can fill a day if you try hard enough.

That is probably a bit harsh really. Although we didn't really get much done today it was mostly because we spent a fair bit of time catching up with people and generally hanging out. That is never really time wasted.

As mentioned yesterday though, I have managed to get a couple of solid sessions under my belt. The first of these was a 'hill repeat' session done on the Kickr. Each time I have been on the trainer this week I have wondered if perhaps I should head outside. Whilst it has been raining, it hasn't been raining all that much. Each time I have decided to stay indoors though I have been happy that I did, with there being enough rain around for me to know that being out in it wouldn't be a lot of fun. A lot of people say that if you are truly hardcore you ride outside no matter what the weather. Whilst I believe that to a certain point, anybody who believes it completely hasn't done a solid trainer session before. By no means is that the easy option. This session was no different, painful but satisfying.

The other session that I have knocked over was another solo swim using the Swim Smooth App. As I mentioned yesterday this one was entirely made up of 100s, all done over a range of different turn around times. Another tough session, but one that felt 100 times better than the swim I did on Wednesday. I am still not sure what was going on during the Wednesday swim, but I just didn't feel comfortable. Today's swim was still tough, but it felt much more sustainable, so that was encouraging.

Back on the bike tomorrow and I am currently unsure whether it will be on the road or on the trainer. I am fairly reluctant to jump on the trainer for such a long ride and looking at the forecast I think I will be okay to be out on the road. But at the same time, it is a session that would lend itself to the trainer reasonably well, and if it is a choice between the trainer and riding in misery, then sometimes the trainer isn't that bad an option. Although I suspect it would be a very painful option. I am reserving my final decision until the morning. At the moment every time I think the rain has cleared it rains again, so I am really not sure what to expect tomorrow.

One thing is for sure, there will be a bike involved.
