Going home eve

Today is my last day in Jakarta and I am well and truly ready to go home. In my experience there comes a point when you are visiting a strange town where you are just sick of being away and only want to get home. It could be a city made of chocolate and puppies, but I think you would still reach that point. Jakarta is not made of chocolate and puppies and I definitely want to go home.

Not much to report today, we wrapped up work by about lunch time today and so this afternoon has been my own. I haven't really seen much of Jakarta other than what I have seen in relation to work, so I thought I should take the chance to head out with some others and see a bit. I must say I didn't see all that much to endear the city to me, but I was probably just looking in the wrong places. What didn't do the place any favours was that I got stuck in proper peak hour traffic today. The traffic here is absolutely insane, but so far we have been able to avoid the worst of it. Today though I got caught right in the guts of it. How bad you ask, try 90 minutes for 10km. I could walk faster than that, I seriously considered it.

Anyway, finishing my day in gridlock was really the last straw and now I am well and truly ready to go and see my family.

On a training front I managed to get on the exercise bike for a bit of a spin this afternoon. It went fine, absolute sweat fest, but after the frustration of the traffic it was good to get out and do some exercise. Still nothing like being on a real bike, which I am really looking forward to, but still a surprisingly solid session.

Tomorrow morning I am hoping to get on the treadmill again for a bit of a run. Then after that, time to go home.
