That title is particularly fitting when you apply it to Jakarta. This town has some serious pollution, you wake up in the morning and gaze of into the smog.
I actually got back into Jakarta yesterday. Well more like last night, but I was too shattered to get online. Yesterday started at about 4:30 and consisted of a bit over 12 hours of travel. 7 hours in the car, an hour or so in a plane, a couple of hours at the airport, a couple more hours in traffic in Jakarta. All up a long day. Still we made it and also got to have a really nice dinner in a real restaurant and everything. So that was a nice way to end the day.
Speaking of food, for the first time in a long time (I can't remember how long) I haven't had any dinner. Uncharacteristically for me I just haven't felt like eating tonight. I am not sick or anything, it is just that since returning to Jakarta we have had some big meals. Dinner last night was massive and lunch today wasn't much smaller. I think I have needed tonight to simply recover. Still I should be bang up for some cereal in the morning.
Being back in Jakarta it has been a bit easier to fit in some exercise. The day at work today was still long, but I managed to slot in a swim this morning and a run this evening. The swim wasn't a particularly long one, but I did it in the outdoor pool here, which is around 25m long, which means I was actually able to get a decent amount of swimming done. I have found that with swimming if you tuck your head down and just swim you can still get a decent amount done in 30 or 40 minutes. So whilst short, it was a good session.
The run tonight was a bit more of a solid session. It wasn't particularly quick, but I only have the treadmill's word on that. Like last run I did on the treadmill here this one felt faster than the treadmill said I was doing. It may well be that it wasn't particularly quick, but that isn't really important. The more important thing is how it felt pain wise. Still a bit sore, but once again it wasn't stopping me. I think it has continued to improve, which is good news. I think in the last 20 minutes or so, when I pushed it, it got a bit sorer, but within some limits it was okay. Slowly, slowly.
We have an early start tomorrow, but it will be the very last one. Because of that I won't try and fit in any training tomorrow morning. But tomorrow night I am hoping we have a bit of time to kill, so might try and get on an exercise bike. I am hopeful that the one in the gym here is a bit better than the one in the gym at the camp.
2 more days until I am home.
Okay, I might be counting now.
