Chups

Cold, cold morning today, down around 3 degrees. Proper chilly. It made warming up on my run this morning a slow affair. I got there in the end, but it was probably about 10 minutes before I could feel my fingers. Still not complaining too much, at least with the cold you know you will get warm if you keep running, with rain, running more doesn't make less wet.

It was a good run in the end, a bit of a PB actually, which was nice. In terms of after the fact soreness I think I am in a better position than I was after my Tuesday run last week. Since getting my hip flexor soreness identified as being back related by the physio last week, I have worked hard at tyring to keep things loose. It hasn't fixed the problem, but I think it has improved it. I am hoping that improvement continues.

The ride last night was good as well. In the end the lovely still conditions from yesterday morning did hang around and I got to have a ride in near perfect weather. Slight chill, no wind, it was really nice. Back on the bike again tonight and I will count myself lucky if I manage to get the same again.

In other news, I just entered Auckland 70.3 in January next year. As part of the Ironman All World Athlete thing you get priority entry into one race a year, which you get to choose from a list of eligible events. On the list for the Asia Pacific region where Auckland 70.3, Cairns 70.3/Ironman and Sunshine Coast 70.3. Of those events Auckland was the only one that really jumped out at me so I went for that one. In the end though the priority entry you get is the same as the one you get by being a Triathlon Australia member, so I am not sure I really gained anything. Still I figured I might as well make the most of it.

It is a fair way off at the moment, and I have a couple of other races to get through first, but I am looking forward to it. I have never been to New Zealand, I have wanted to for ages, but I never quite seem to make it. This should be a good chance to finally make it. Auckland 70.3 seems to be one of those where they either have great conditions or terrible ones. Hopefully next year they book in good conditions.
