Back Again

I survived my work trip and so I am now back.

I got in last night and so, given that I hadn't seen my family for three days, elected to not make my first action upon my return leaving them all again for a three hour bike ride this morning. Racing and training is a pretty selfish activity when it all boils down, but sometimes you realise that you are about to do something that steps outside the normal bounds of being self centred and more towards the territory of being a jerk. With that in mind I hung around home this morning, saw my kids and didn't feel the slightest twinge of guilt about not being on the bike.

Besides, it was somewhere in the vicinity of 3 degrees this morning. That is proper cold.

I haven't had a completely lazy day though training wise. I was down the pool this afternoon for a good solid swim set. Doing so has meant that I have done some training and so has prevented any onset of delayed guilt.

The trip was good from a work perspective, achieved what it was intended to etc. Plus some forward planning also meant that the interruption to training was minimised, so it wasn't frustrating, which these trips sometimes are. It was also great to catch up with the folks in Darwin again, and have a chance to actually chat to Daryl face to face. But after all that, it is very good to be home again. Now I can settle down and get back into training without the knowledge of an upcoming trip hanging over my head.

With that in mind, ride/run session in the morning, very similar to last week.
