A brief intermission

Just a quick post today as I sit in my hotel room in Darwin getting ready to head to bed. As you may gather from that previous statement, I am travelling for work. This in itself is no great achievement, but it means that I will be out of contact for a day or two. As a result there will be no post tomorrow and possibly not Friday either. But I will definitely be back and blogging by Saturday.

Training has been a bit of a mixed affair today as a result of my travel. This morning I was on my trainer in Perth, where it was about 4 degrees. This afternoon I was having a lovely open water swim at the Water Front in Darwin where it was about 27 degrees. Just a little different.

The two sessions where quite different, but both were good.

As I mentioned yesterday, the session I had on the bike was the sort that was well suited to the trainer, and so it proved this morning. Once again being able to dial in the necessary power levels really made the difference with the session. On the road the session would have been solid, doing it on the trainer just added an extra level.

The swim this afternoon was just nice. I always enjoy getting back to the Darwin Water Front when I get the chance. A very pleasant place to swim, nice temperature, decentish water quality, giant fish that occasionally give you a nibble, everything you might want. Today I managed to get the nice temperature etc without the giant fish bit, so that was a bit of a win.

Then to top off the day I got to have dinner with Daryl, Robyn and a bunch of the Darwin folk. All around it has been an interesting day, and for the most part a very nice one.
