I got out for a very pleasant spin on the bike this morning. I woke up during the night to hear it raining fairly convincingly and so thought this morning might have been my first session on the Kickr. However, by morning the rain had mostly moved on and the roads dried out enough to make it a good morning out on the road.
I say mostly moved on because I still got a little dampened. That sort of annoying, misty type rain, that isn't really falling, more just hanging around. Enough to be annoying, but not soaking. I probably got more water from the roads.
Wet roads are one of my pet hates. They make the bike filthy, they make you filthy, if you are riding with others then the spray off other bikes is horrible, the list goes on. Whenever I complain people tell me that I should just get some mudguards, apparently that is what they do in truly wet places like Canada. That is very very unlikely to happen. Ever. I would prefer to go on getting road spray and complaining about it than inflict the indignity of mudguards on my bike.
Anyway, this morning the roads where generally dry enough to fall below my dislike threshold, which is why I went out on the bike. A couple of the roads and cycleways were stubbornly wet though. There was one section of cycleway that just seemed to have its own personal rain cloud. I road along it both heading away from home and heading back and both times it was raining. No rain and dry roads either side, wet road for about 700m in between. Weird.
And annoying.
The ride was good though. It took me a little while to get into it, but then the second two thirds of the ride were nice and solid.
With the ride done, I don't have any other sessions on the program for today, so this afternoon is mine to dispose of as I please.
Tomorrow is it a day of riding and running again, a bit like last Thursday. Hopefully during the running I feel more like I did on Sunday than how I did last Thursday.
