Rest Day - kind of
Taper week started today with a little bit of a sleep in.
I say a little bit of a sleep in because our gorgeous snow flake of a son decided that 5:05am really was wake up time and wouldn't be convinced any other way. It is hard to get back to sleep with a 1 year old bouncing on you.
Still the morning was off, and so is this afternoon, so the resting is well under way.
Good morning to be not training though. In fact yesterday morning was a good morning to not be riding as well. Winter has been exerting its presence a little bit more over the last couple of days, with some windy and wet weather. This morning is drier than yesterday, but still moist and windy enough to make being in bed a nice option. Yesterday was wetter again and I remember thinking to myself more than once that I was glad to be running rather than riding.
Still it would have been nice to have just a little bit more sleep.
Tomorrow, in 'The Taper - Day 2" I have a bit of a ride to get done. I have the option of doing it in the morning, when the weather is usually nicer and getting it out of the way. Or staying in bed and doing it in the afternoon. Not sure yet. Given how our last few weeks have gone, staying in bed doesn't necessarily translate to much more sleep anyway, just being an infant trampoline. I think it the end it will depend a bit on the weather. Not raining in the morning means I will probably ride then.
Whichever way I go I feel like I could do with some sleep, so early to bed tonight.
Oh yeah speaking of infant trampolines, our son took some steps yesterday. He has been flirting with the idea for a few weeks now, but yesterday he had a think about it and then tottered across our living room. He was pretty pleased with himself, enough that he decided to try it a couple more times. He is probably still a few months off his first triathlon. But it was an exciting first step (see what I did there). Next, bikes...
