In any injury there comes a time when you run out of pain killers and you simply don't buy more. I think of it as a bit of a milestone, since it indicates the point in your recovery where it doesn't hurt that much anymore. Anyway I passed that point yesterday.
Don't get me wrong I haven't been living on anti inflammatories (in this case my friend and yours Voltaren 25). I haven't been relying on them to get through training or anything. I have just been taking them before bed to help with the healing process. However, on Saturday night I ran out and decided that I didn't need to bother getting more on Sunday. So this morning the first one in a while where I woke up having not taken anything the night before. Given that, it went okay.
I woke up a little bit stiffer than I have been, but it was nothing that didn't stretch out pretty quickly. Once I was on the bike I was feeling okay. No real twinges or niggles.
The riding felt good as well. Quite a nice morning to be out, the weather was a little bit more Summer than Winter, ie more windy and warm than chilly and cold. But not really not too much wind or heat, so very pleasant.
The more I ride the more I find that I am enjoying my new Garmin 510. It really is a little thing, but I think that having my power outputs visible all the time is helping me make better use of my powermeter. I certainly am finding that I am able to ride to a power output a bit more effectively in the last few rides I have done.
Tomorrow morning I have another walk/run. Like each of the ones I have done so far, my goal for this one will for it to be a bit better than the one before. Tomorrow's walk is a bit longer with a bit more running than the session I did yesterday, so hopefully it goes well. The big challenge will be to try and relax a bit. That will be my aim for the session, try and run relaxed.
We will see how it goes.
