Another step forward

This morning I had another walk/run session and once again it was a step in the right direction.

This morning the session was longer than the ones I have been doing, plus there was more running pieces and it was at a faster pace.

And it all felt pretty good, well better than it has been anyway.

In fact, strangely enough, the running felt better than the walking. For the walking I was sore, but after the first couple of steps of running I usually started feeling okayish. The pain was still there while running, but it was manageable and not getting worse, which I see as a big step forward. I was also quite pleased to see how easy it was to get up to a decent speed. I was worried it was going to take me while to get some speed back, since I have been running quite tentatively. However, this morning I was able to get into my stride well enough to get going at a decent rate (for me anyway).

I am getting close to the point where I think I could manage a continuous run. Happy days.

I have also pulled up okay post run, which is probably just as important as how I was feeling during the run. Everything has loosened off a bit and I am not feeling any worse than I was before the run.

I am slowly getting there I think.

Down to swimming in the morning and I am hoping that the week of good training that I have had so far continues. My body is slowly getting back into the groove of training I think. In fact some aspects of training, like riding, are feeling as good as they ever have. So it would be nice if that can continue.

I had a little reminder of what the next few months have in store this morning, with a bit of rain on my walk/run. Just enough to keep it nice and cool and make the paths a little wet, but not enough to be annoying. Just a bit of a taster of winter.

On to tomorrow and hopefully the improvements it will bring.
