Zzzzzzz...

Tired today. Pretty sure it is a symptom of the long run yesterday since I got plenty of sleep. Plus I have only just had my first coffee of the day and it is well into the afternoon, so that isn't helping. I have a pretty easy start to this week training wise and I think it is probably a good thing.

I was on the bike this morning, which felt surprisingly okay. Tired legs, but not exhausted, in the end the ride went well enough. The weather wasn't quite perfect, but it was close enough that picking on the shortcomings seems petty. Nice temperature, wind wasn't to bad, nice and light, ticked all the boxes. We are in that beautiful narrow band of weather in Perth where it has stopped being cold, but hasn't started being too hot yet. I am loving it. The summer wind patterns mean that all of my rides now start into a headwind, but even that isn't too bad. I have realised that I would prefer to start a ride into a lightish headwind, than have to finish every ride into a howling one, which is what the wind patterns are in winter.

I was feeling a little uneasy today and I realised it was because mentally I feel like I should be getting ready to race, starting to plan, pack etc. But with Mandurah being local (and less than an hour from my house), there isn't all that much planning that needs to be done. Nutrition needs to be considered etc obviously and a few other things, but I don't need to pack my bike, or plan how I am going to get to the airport etc. In fact if I wanted to I could probably get away without giving the race any thought until the Friday beforehand, although that isn't the plan. I could get used to the local race thing.

As it is I am going to do a bit of preparation, other than the training I mean. I will probably head down to Mandurah this weekend and check out the course, drive over the ride etc. Might also chuck the race wheels on the bike and make sure they still work etc. Give the wheel cover another spin before race day.

Whilst not all that much preparation is required, it is definitely starting to feel like it is time to race.
