A bit of a late one tonight, it has been one of those days, I just couldn't seem to get things done. Training went okay though.
I was on the bike again this morning for a longish ride. I was interested to see how the follow up from yesterday's long ride would be and I was pleasantly surprised. I felt pretty okay. This was another cycling heavy weekend, and I feel better than I did after the last one, so that is a positive.
Certainly I felt a bit fatigued during some of the intervals, but I got through the ride without any real troubles. The weather started off rotten, but improved over the course of the ride, with blue skies by the time I finished. So that was nice too.
This afternoon it was time for an easy recovery swim. For something different I thought I would try the pool down at Melville Aquatic Centre which isn't to far from me. I wasn't a fan, I probably wouldn't bother again. Nothing major, just little things, like the vents that return the water into the pool running down the side of the fast lane creating a lot of turbulence in the lane. And I know it is getting more common, but I really object to paying $5.80 for pool entrance. All up it didn't grab me. It was okay given it was only a short swim, but I won't be rushing back.
Today I also entered the Geelong 70.3, which is on the 9th of Feb. I was a bit surprised when I was doing my entry that it put me in the 35-39 category, but then when I thought about it of course it was correct (I turn 35 next year). Still it depressed me for just a minute. Oh well that is the nature of things I guess.
On the bike tomorrow (again), but just a short recovery ride. Looking forward to the light training day.
