Breakages

Done for the day now. I just polished off my second run for the day and so now I can relax for the afternoon. It is a nice feeling.

Running felt okay today. My longer intervals this morning weren't quite as quick as some of the ones I have done, but then to offset that my shorter intervals this afternoon were a lot quicker than last week. Make what you will from that. Personally I am not sure. I am just happy I didn't have a repeat of last week's gastronomic fireworks.

Motivation to get out for the second run was low today, but then I realised part of what I wasn't looking forward to was running over the same old course as normal. So today I changed it up and headed a different way. I changed the run so that I ran through King's Park a lot more. The change of scenery sure did the trick, I enjoyed the run a lot more, which is possibly reflected in the quicker times. I certainly felt a lot better on this run compared to last week, which was a bit of a sufferfest. The new course isn't perfect, you risk having the second interval interrupted if a set of traffic lights don't turn in your favour. But despite that I think I will run that way a bit more. At least until I get sick of it and decide I need another change.

Damn cold this morning. Well really it was 5 degrees, which is hardly Arctic, but it was a bit of a shock. I have just been getting used to being warm and then this morning, bam, cold weather from nowhere. It certainly made getting out the door a bit tougher. I got there, but it was a little bit of a struggle.

The only downside to the today's runs came at the end of this morning's run when I smashed the mount for my Garmin. I think I have mentioned before that I have my Garmin 910XT mounted to a quick release watch strap. That way I can swap the watch easily between being a running computer and a cycling computer. Personally I love this set up, particularly for racing. Anyway I was just in the tail end of my run and I clipped the watch on a rail, which tore it out of watch band, shattering the mount in the process. It could have been a lot worse, it could have been the Garmin that shattered (been there done that), but this is still annoying. I am about to head down the road to see if I can pick up a replacement, which I have been assured they have in stock.

Back to the pool in the morning. Hopefully it is a little bit warmer.
