Today has been one of those days. In a good way though.
One of those days where you get to the end and think, yep, life is pretty sweet.
Today is a public holiday in Perth, so I got to have the day off from work. That also meant I got to have a sleep in, which already means I was starting the day off on the right foot. I woke up in a bed full of a wife and two kids, which is something I don't get to do all that often. So the day was starting well.
Given it was a day off work, I thought I might as well make the most of it, so I headed down to Claremont Pool to take part in one of the Monday Swim Smooth sessions that I can't usually make. The Monday sessions are technique sessions. Swimming sessions focused only on technique are something that always seem to get squeezed out. Between trying to fit in work, the other training etc, there never seems to be time for a technique only swim. So this morning was a nice luxury. Whenever I think technique swim, part of my brain always interprets that as an easy swim. This certainly wasn't that. I wasn't exactly pushing myself into lacticville or anything, but it was a solidly steady set. Certainly one that made me feel it had been a good use of an hour or so.
After that I got to spend some time having a relaxing day, going for a walk with the family, grabbing a coffee, enjoying the lovely weather etc.
Then to finish off the day it was off for a nice little spin on Speedy McSpeedy, otherwise known as my Cervelo P5. Lovely ride, sunshine, warm, a bit of wind but not too annoying. Everything you might want.
Some days it just can't get much better.
