I made it back to Perth yesterday, and I have to say it is great to be home. Training during the trip up to Darwin worked surprisingly well, but it is a big relief to be back to where everything is familiar. That should hopefully be my last interruption to training between now and Busselton, so now I can settle down and concentrate on the serious business of getting ready for an Ironman.
A good solid day of training today and a lovely day to do it on. Driving with the top down sort of weather. I don't have a convertible, but I have a bike, which I have to say might just be a little bit better. I don't want to speak too soon, but I think I might anyway, I think the weather is on the improve. Actually I am pretty sure we aren't through with the wet weather quite yet, but today gave a glimpse of how nice the weather will hopefully become soon.
The morning started off with a longish ride on the TT bike. Lots of fun, with some high speed intervals and just lots of medium intensity riding. Like last Saturday, I headed down the freeway again. You can tell the triathlon season is starting soon, there were a large number of TT bikes out and about. Flying south along the freeway was lots of fun, with a nice tailwind blowing me along. Needless to say the ride home was a fair bit less fun. All up it was a good ride though.
This afternoon I finally managed to get down to the Saturday Swim Smooth session. It has been three weeks since Bintan, and in that time I just haven't managed to get there, so it was good to achieve that today. It was a bit of a return to form for the Saturday session, with a good old smash fest. It was pretty hard work, but after the interrupted swimming training I have had for the last few weeks, it was great to get back into routine. The swimming felt surprisingly good as well.
Out for a bit of a cross country run tomorrow, so hopefully the glorious weather continues. With the earlier sunrise, I may even have some light on the run. Novelty.
