Darn and other four letter words

Where is my cycling gear?

That is the question that I posed to myself today. Not deeply philosophical I must admit, but still important, to me at least.

The answer to this question, I am pretty sure, is in the 4th draw of the chest of drawers in the second bedroom of Villa number 6 of Nirwana Gardens.

In Bintan.

Doh..

Surely you should have noticed that your cycling gear was missing prior to this I hear you ask. Well yes and no. It isn't all my cycling gear, just about half of what I took up to Bintan.  So I have had clothes to ride in when I have gone and looked over the past week or so. Plus I just sort of assumed that the rest had made their way into the dirty washing etc. It wasn't until today when I went and had a proper look that I realised I was lacking a whole bunch of stuff. And whilst it isn't all of it, it is still a pretty decent chunk of what I own.

I have contacted the resort and I really really hope they are able to track it down, since it will be a pain to replace it all. So fingers crossed on that one.

On a bright side, I am feeling much better today. Still a little sniffly, but I certainly woke up feeling a lot more with it today. No longer congested and head coldy. Pretty much ready to get on with the week of training I have looming.

Speaking of training, since I was feeling a lot better I headed out on the Cervelo for a bit of a spin with my wheel cover disc in place. It was good. Certainly for the first, excited part of the ride I was flying. But even when the excitment and novelty had worn off, it still felt pretty quick. It was pretty windy today and so it was hard to get a clean run where I wasn't either going with the wind, or fighting a head wind. But even still it felt pretty good for holding speed into the wind. And the sections where I was out of the wind, really speedy. I would by lying if I said it felt lightyears quicker than my normal race wheel (which is already a pretty quick wheel) but I think it did feel better. And despite the winds, no instability. I will certainly be using the wheel cover in my next race.

Next week training begins again in earnest. It starts slowly and then changes its mind. I have been going just a little bit stir crazy this last week. Sometimes when you have all sorts going on at work etc, it is good to have that one constant of exercise. The time when you can simply switch off. I am looking forward to getting that back.

Remind me I said that next weekend when I am exhausted.
