Well I did manage to get myself out on the bike yesterday afternoon. It was a struggle but I got there. It would be nice to say that once I was out it all fell into place and I nailed my intervals. But that would be lying. I did pretty well and I am happy with how the intervals went. But there was a bit of a breeze around which meant the intervals were done in a mixture of head winds and tail winds. As you can probably guess I hit my target speeds on the tail wind ones, and I gave the head wind intervals an honest crack, but I just couldn't get there. I am not beating myself up over that though. I was working at race pace intensity that is for certain and for me that is the main thing. Reaching race pace on the speedo is always pretty tough when working into the wind.
It was a tough session out running this morning as well. This morning's run was a strength session, which in this case means attacking every hill. 'Luckily' for me I live in an area with lots of rolling hills. So finding hills to attack was pretty easy. Woohoo?? I think the whole time I was running I probably spent less than 5 minutes on flat ground. Usually when I plan a run I might plan a route that doesn't hit to many hills. Planning a route that specifically hits as many hills as possible was a little foreign to me. It was tough work.
Getting to the end of the week now and really getting into that fatigue phase of week that can make training hard. Not long to the weekend though, which makes getting up in the morning just a little bit easier.
