The morning started well, after what seems like a couple of weeks of drizzle, this morning the skies dried up and we had blue skies and light winds. Perfect start.
The ride was a short one with some intervals, which is pretty standard for this type of session. However, I finally had some joy with the intervals, hitting the goal speeds for pretty much every one. Of course being on this probably didn't hurt.

In fact that would probably be a good description for the entire session.
The P5 is a funny bike. I have gotten to know it a bit better over the last few months and am now a lot more comfortable on it. For instance last night I put my race wheels on and it didn't take until midnight. And I barely had to repeat any steps. So we are beginning to understand each other.
But when you are just riding it around on normal wheels etc, it is almost a little ungainly. The cowl over the front brake gapes open and creaks on each pedal stroke, and that isn't its only funny noise. I often find myself wondering whether a new bike of this calibre should really sound this way. It certainly has a few quirks. But then you adjust the brakes wide to fit race wheels, and slide those deep rims into place, and the bike just works. All the noises are gone. The cowl over the brake fits seamlessly. When you push it up to speed, all you hear is the whomp whomp of the wheels and sound of wind going past, very quickly.
It is like the engineers behind the bike built it to do just one thing, go fast in race conditions, and everything else was just considered window dressing. I would have to say they succeeded.
