The swim this morning was a good one. If Daryl and I can come up with a training schedule that allows a Wednesday morning swim then I will keep attending this session. It was a 5km set this morning, which is the furthest I have swum in a single sitting for quite some time. Not super intense, but long and at an honest pace, you certainly aren't floating around.
The other session for the day was a set of running intervals. I have just finished them up and they went okay. I definitely had a case of goouttoharditis and suffered for it in the last few intervals. Got there in the end, but the last few were pretty unpleasant. I do my intervals on a cycleway that runs alongside the Swan River (it is flat there). For most of that section of cycleway you are only a stones throw from the river, so it is always very picturesque. Today was extra special since while running some of the Swan's river dolphins were playing and feeding right next to the bank. They were being pretty active, jumping out of the water and everything. It was a nice distraction.
There are apparently only 25 or so dolphins in the Swan, but it is remarkable how often you see them. Between rowing and kayaking I have spent a fair amount of time on the river and have some great memories of being checked out/scared stupid by the dolphins. It is always nice to see them when they pop up. Some days I get to work by catching the train from Fremantle, which is Perth's port. Near the start of the train trip, the train crosses the river, just above the harbour. If you look out the train window as you cross the river, every few days you will see the dolphins fishing in the harbour. I always love seeing just how many people turn and look to see if the dolphins are there that morning. Without fail a fair percentage of the train will check. Needless to say the dolphins have a special place in the heart of most Perthites.
Big day of training tomorrow with a long run and then a bike session. Hopefully it isn't raining.
