A little bananas

I am colour blind, well actually I think what I have is referred to as colour confused, since I see colour, just not the right ones. Usually it isn't much of an issue, other than when people first find out and then insist of picking up the closest colourful object and asking 'what colour is this'. Not sure but it might be blood red pretty soon. Anyway, the other time it causes problems is bananas. I like bananas, well more specifically I like ripe bananas. However, identifying said ripe bananas can be difficult when colour blind. It results in a bit of a banana lottery. I won the banana lottery today, but yesterday, not so lucky. More crunchy than lucky.

It also causes problems at BBQs since I can't tell by looking whether meat is cooked or not. The only levels of cooked meat I can tell with certainty are bleeding and burnt. Other than that it could be anywhere in between. The meat thing is annoying as well, but the banana thing is worse.

Since I am going to try out the Wednesday morning Swim Smooth session this week, I was on the bike this morning instead. So it was a morning ride down to King's Park for some hill repeats. It has been a while since I have done hill repeats in the morning and it made me realise that I much prefer King's Park in the morning than the evening. In the end it was a very nice ride, pretty cold, but nothing that some full fingered gloves couldn't fix. I am very glad I managed to get out this morning looking at the rain clouds that are forming over the city at the moment. So that is good. I only finished cleaning my bike last night, and after last week I am happy to not spend more time than necessary riding in the rain.

Dodged that bullet my getting my ride done this morning
It will be interesting to see how the swim goes in the morning. It is a session almost specifically aimed at Ironman and Half Ironman athletes. It contains sessions with colourful names such as Red Mist and Swim till you Die (okay I made that last one up). But I get the impression it can be a tough session. Will find out in the morning I guess.
