Toasty warm

Down the pool for a swim this morning, this time with a difference. Rather than walking around feeling cold before jumping in the water, I was nice and warm. All thanks to my wetsuit. The swim was good to. I got through the entire session without feeling tight or restricted. This mornings swim confirmed my first impressions from yesterday, the wetsuit is a good fit.

Rather than feeling like the wetsuit was making me swim fast, it was more that I just wasn't aware of it, it didn't get in my way. I didn't feel like I had to modify my stroke, or swim any differently due to the suit. This is exactly how I like my wetsuits to feel. It certainly did make a difference in speed though, as you would hope. At least equivalent to my old wetsuit I would say, so that is also a good thing. It isn't slowing me down. The water temperature in the pool this morning was also pretty close to the likely water temperature at Cairns. So that was good. It was useful to swim in water of that temperature for an hour or so and see that I wasn't going to overheat.

However, the best bit of swimming in the wetsuit this morning was getting out of the pool. There was no jumping out and rushing over to the towel to start getting dry. If anything by the end of the session I was slightly warm in the wetsuit. When I jumped in the shower afterwards, my first thought was 'Oooo, this shower is a little hot I wonder if I can make it cooler'. Wonderful. Perhaps I should swim in a wetsuit more often.

Operation pack bike continues tonight. I didn't get as much done as I would have liked last night, but at the same time I wasn't going to stay up all night getting it done. I don't need it packed for a couple of days yet, so I can afford to take my time. Hopefully I can get the bulk of it done tonight though.
