Well it seems like I have picked up a bit of a chest cold. Not that bad, but not that great either. I could have timed that one a little better if I am honest with myself. I blame the cold weather on the weekend. We had three days of cold temperatures that just seem to have hit my system pretty hard. Cold weather leading to sniffles, leading to a sore throat, leading to a cough, which is where I am now.
Rest is the order or the day. I am at the point where any amount of recovery I can gain through rest outweighs any fitness benefit I might get from training. I do think I am through the worst of it, so I am hoping a couple of days of getting some good sleep etc will see big gains. The race is still three and a half days away, I can hopefully regain a lot of ground in that time. In the past my chest colds have tended to linger, but I am working very hard to try and limit that. Will wait and see. I swam yesterday morning and felt pretty alright during the actual exercise. So I am hoping that if worst comes to worst I will be able to make it through race day. Just 'make it through' is not the goal obviously, but I will take what I can get. At the moment I am still hopeful of making a recovery before race day though.
Bike is packed. As usual it was a tight fit, but we got there in the end. Just have to pack the rest of my stuff now. That is tonight's job. That and get some rest.
