Today was a public holiday in Perth and it was also a rest day for training, so as well as having a day off work, I had a day off training as well. Very nice. Was a good chance to have a bit of a relax as well as catch up with family etc. I took the chance to have a quick swim in the Swan river in the new wetsuit since I didn't manage it yesterday. Everything seems fine, fits nicely, very tight, but doesn't seem to restrict me in any particular areas so that is great. I will have a longer swim in it down the pool tomorrow and that will really show me if I am going to have any problems. I don't expect any though. So far so good.
Starting the bike packing process tonight. Since it is a new bike I want to give myself plenty of time to figure it out and get it right. I don't think it will be to complicated, but I shouldn't need the race bike between now and Thursday night, so I might as well use the time to get it in the bag. I would prefer to do that than end up trying to rush it all on Thursday night
This is the start of taper week, which is always a bit of fun, sleeping in etc. Like most athletes I tend to think that the moment that I start tapering I am instantly losing fitness and so taper week can often feel a little stressful. Although over the years I have learned that of course that isn't true and taper week is vitally important. So hopefully this time around I can relax and enjoy the resting.
