Procrastination Strength Training

We are having some storms in Perth. It is definitely a Hot Milo Morning. See

Hot Milo Morning
As a result it was pretty tough getting myself on the bike this morning. My procrastination skills certainly got a work out.

I got out on the ride in the end, after much sitting and gazing at the weather radar willing it to clear. I didn't actually get rained on all that much. But the conditions weren't particularly fun, with a fair bit of wind and a lot of debris and water on the roads. I put on what I think of as my cold weather armour, arm warmers, vest etc, so managed to create a little dry cocoon of warmth for my body. Except for my feet and rear end. Both ended up soaked and cold from road spray. Might look into some shoe covers for the feet, not sure there is much that can be done for the rear end though.

Still have to make it home on the bike tonight. The ride home is exactly that, a ride straight home, no extra distance in the name of training, that is what this morning is about. But even still, looking at the forecast I am not sure I will have as much luck as I did this morning when it comes to dodging the rain.

Could be a wet ride home - character building perhaps?
On the topic of unfortunate weather, my wife pointed out a mistake on yesterday's post. Our conversation went a little something like:

Wife: You know it isn't Winter yet.
Me: Pardon?
Wife: Your post says Winter is here, but it isn't
Me: But the rain and the cold and wind, what is that then?
Wife: That is just Autumn.
Me: Damn

You see, as well as spending the last two and a half years in Darwin, I grew up there as well. I came down to Perth when I was 17 or so. As a result I have never been that clear on the whole, when seasons change, thing. If this is only Autumn, I am not looking forward to training through Winter. I have never trained for triathlon through a Winter before. Could be an interesting experience.
