So this is winter

I think winter is here. It certainly seems to be raining a fair bit, and windy, and cold. I think that covers most of it. Amazingly, given the conditions, I haven't been rained on for the last few sessions. Except the swim last night, but that doesn't really count. But the ride home from work last night I managed to stay dry. Then running intervals this morning, I must have been out for the one hour that it wasn't raining near my house. I am not sure my luck is going to hold for my ride tomorrow morning. We shall see. I might get a chance to see just how waterproof my vest is. I guess that is a bright side. Lucky me?

I am not sure what the weather is doing down in Busselton, but hopefully it fines up for the Busselton 70.3 this weekend. There could be a number of very cold Darwinites racing if this weather continues. You should be able to tell them, they will be the blue shivery ones. I am a little annoyed that I am not racing. Why aren't you I hear you ask, this is a 70.3 on your door step after all? Well long story short, when entries were open last year, I just didn't know whether I would be ready to race. My son was born in February and I didn't even know if I would be back training by now, let alone fit enough to race. Plus I wasn't certain I would be living in Perth. We knew we were coming back here, but at that stage we didn't know when. Daryl suggested I entered Cairns 70.3 instead to give me a little bit more time. I will be doing Mandurah 70.3 though and plans are to do Busselton full, so I will be making the most of some of the local races. Particularly since I found out last night that Mandurah will have Kona slots, very nice. Not sure if I will make it back to Albany half next year unfortunately. We shall see. It would be nice to fit it in, it is a race I would like to support.

I heard this morning that after this year the 70.3 World Champs will be rotating through regions, so not always in Vegas. That is great news. I have some unfinished business with the 70.3 World Champs, but I am not sure I would be rushing back to Vegas. It really didn't agree with me. Can somebody explain the point of that city to me. I would happily go back and do the World Champs in another location though. So I will be very interested to hear where the 2014 version ends up. I am not planning to be available for the 2014 70.3 Worlds, but I will still be interested to know where they are. See if they can find a course as tough as Vegas.

Non tri related news, I am selling my Mountain Bike. Well I am trying to sell my Mountain Bike. Why is that significant? Well it isn't all that significant, other than to say I got into triathlon through adventure racing. You know the races I am talking about, kind of like off road triathlon, often with kayaking involved. Anyway, I haven't done one for quite some time, but I have always thought I might go back, something I have sort of been keeping in my back pocket. But, I don't think I will. I think I am officially considering myself a triathlete now. Hence, I am selling the Mountain Bike. Maybe it isn't a big thing, but it is a thing.

Anyone want to buy a Mountain Bike?
