Survived

Well we survived our sleep over adventures from last night. Seven 10 year olds in one house for an evening and morning is the definition of controlled chaos, but we managed it. There was a fair bit of squealing, some questionable dietary choices and perhaps less sleep than is generally advisable, but we made it out the other side intact. Phew.

On the topic of birthdays, a bit of a reduced day of training today. The plan had been a paddle this morning and then a pretty expansive gym session this afternoon. The paddle happened, but by the time I got to this afternoon the gym session just wasn't going to fit. Well, more accurately I could have fitted it, but it would have meant missing birthday celebrations to do so.

One lesson I have learnt over years of training is that there are times when sacrifices should be made for training and there are times when things are more important than training. 10th birthday's fit that later category, so no regrets about the decision.

While today's session was cut a little short, in general this has been a massive week of training and one that I am happy to have made it through. Still a load of training to go, but this week it felt like things started to gel a little and so I am looking forward to more.

For now though we have the remnants of a 10 year old birthday to enjoy.
