Another day, another set of improvements. I am continuing to heal and really I am in that stage of recovery where that is about all I can say about it. Today I again have a bit more movement and a bit less pain in my right shoulder. My big moment today was when I was in the shower this morning and I realised that I can now touch the top of my head with my right hand, which is something that I couldn't do yesterday. I can now also lift my right arm up to horizontal without out much pain, which is another new thing. Perhaps tomorrow I will be able to get it past horizontal. Who knows? Such is the crazy life that I am living at the moment. Woo hoo!!!!
Training wise I jumped on the trainer again this morning. This is my current fall back session. If I can't think of something better to do it is on to the trainer. This morning and yesterday I was able to actually ride with both hands on the handlebars. I still can't support much weight with my right hand and keeping my hand out there makes my right shoulder ache after a while, but it is much better than having to spend the entire ride sitting up. I never realised how hard you work when you sit up, but my heart rate was definitely higher for the rides where I was doing a lot of it. Being able to ride in a proper cycling position makes the riding much easier so my power levels are approaching somewhere near normal again now. Still a ways to go with that but the sessions are feeling a bit more like proper training again now. Just need to make them a bit longer now. And back on the road.
Tomorrow? Well you guessed it, I will be on the trainer again in the morning and then another walk/something session. I had been thinking of doing another walk/stairs session, but if I am honest my legs are killing me after yesterday. So I might make it a walk/hills session instead. Something different, plus I am keen to see how it compares to the stairs in terms of intensity, strength work etc. Might look to make my 'run' session a mixture of the two until I can actually run again.
Tonight I plan on starting up my usual strength/stretching routine again too. I won't be able to do all/much of it but I can make a start at least. Do what I can.
All little things that will hopefully make the journey back to fitness just a little bit shorter.
