Indulging

Well that time of year is certainly upon us. I think I ate so much yesterday that my teeth ached, and today wasn't a lot better. Certainly a very light dinner planned for this evening. As well as eating there was also a little bit of drinking (non alcoholic for me at the moment) at the Break Your Limits Christmas function.

Despite the challenges of trying to keep my food intake under control whilst I am on a reduced training load, all these events have been a lot of fun. Nearly all of them have been chances to catch up with people who I am unlikely to see actually on Christmas day. Whilst over-indulgence might be something that is hard to avoid at this time of year, the catching up with people that goes with it is very welcome.

As well as putting myself in a food coma, I did get some training done today. Walking hill repeats like I mentioned yesterday. I got my 30 repeats done as planned, 31 to be exact. About 600m of gained elevation, which isn't bad, even if it was all walked. As I mentioned yesterday, I am not kidding myself into thinking that it is a replacement for running. But it will do for now. Hopefully a bit of running type activity late in the week, but more on that later.

Tomorrow I think it might be time to finally get down to the pool. I had planned on doing it last week, but I just didn't manage it. I have been a bit unsure about what I would even do there. However, today I chatted to somebody who had exactly the same injury as me 12 months ago and she gave me a couple of ideas of things I could do, so I might head down there and try some of them out. Even better, she told me that 12 months after her injury her shoulder has been as good as new. Music to my ears. Good to see there is light at the end of this tunnel.

Now back to my food coma.
