It is funny with training, sometimes a session just clicks together. That is what I had on the bike this morning. I am not sure what it was about the bike this morning, but I was just flying. Fastest 70 minutes I have ever had on my road bike without question. Highest average power too. It just felt good.
I did bump my seat up yesterday afternoon which may have helped with power delivery. Plus I am finally beginning to feel like I have rested up from our weekend away. I also spent 5 or 6km chasing down a guy who was flying along on a TT bike. Perhaps the session was just the product of all those things combined. Whatever it was though, it was a great ride.
Beautiful conditions for riding today too. After the haze of yesterday, this morning was clear and still. Just a slight chill. Perfect riding conditions. The sort of session where it is a pleasure to be out. A little bit of stress going on with regards to race planning at the moment, so it was really nice to be able to get out and forget about all of that and simply enjoy exercise.
Running tonight which should be an interesting session. Similar to the run I did on Tuesday, but I am hopeful that I will be feeling better this afternoon than I was on Tuesday afternoon. So far I am anyway. The session involves some hill repeats, but they are long and steady rather than short and steep. I am still in the process of trying to ID a suitable hill. I think I have one in mind, but I am not sure whether it is long enough.
Despite the hills I think I will be aiming for a bit less intensity in this run. Other than the hills, the rest is just steady so I am keen to just get out and have an enjoyable run. This afternoon is essentially Friday for me so it will be good to get out and clear the head before getting into the weekend of training.
