Just a quick blog tonight, I have a dinner to get to. Tonight is the third of the annual Break Your Limit Grand Tour dinners. Earlier this year we went to an Italian restaurant during the Giro, a French restaurant during the tour and tonight, well you can probably guess. Should be very tasty and a lot of fun. Although the new diet may take a bit of a hammering. In fact if your name is David Bryant and you a nutritionist, probably pretend that you haven't read this. When I got the diet David asked me to stick to it 95%. Well I reckon that 5% is going to get a work out tonight.
Some good bits of training this morning. The day started off with a very low intensity 16km run. As I suspected yesterday I struggled to keep the pace as low as it was supposed to be, but I did manage to keep it in the right ballpark. I was sort of surprised to find that even running slowly, the run was quite fatiguing. In my head I had noted the session down as a really easy, painless cruise and it wasn't quite that. I guess in the end, even if you are running slowly you are still using muscles for quite some time and that adds up.
The other bit of training today was going out for a little spin with Stef Puszka, showing her some of the sites of Perth and some of our lovely cycling routes. The day had started off a bit raining and cool, but by the time we were out it was really quite wonderful. Nice easy spin and a chat. If only all training could be so pleasant.
The final thing that has to be said for today is a big congratulations to some epic performances over at the Sunshine Coast 70.3. Many, many people over there racing and checking out next year's World Championships course. Particular mention has to go to Tim Green really standing up and performing in a massive field. Second time he has done this in a row, after Cairns 70.3 in the middle of the year. Becoming a bit of a habit. Very nicely put together race.
