I am going to go and do a little bit of exercise today. Crazy concept I know. The plan is to ride home from work, which is a nice little spin of around 20km. I might just make it a tiny bit longer but not much, I don't want to strain something after all.
Depending on how I am feeling I might even go for a swim tomorrow morning. I have a bit of a sore throat at the moment, but I think it is better today than it was yesterday, so I am hoping that by tomorrow I should be fine to swim. Besides, I like swimming.
I am going into a bit of an unusual phase of training at the moment. I think they call it an 'off season', does that sound right? Well perhaps an 'off couple of weeks' would be more appropriate. Strange time to do it since Challenge Gold Coast was the opening race for the Australia season, but it just sort of the way it has worked out. I have a work trip at the end of next week, and I will be away for around two weeks. My training during that time is a complete unknown, so Daryl and I have agreed to keep that period fairly relaxed. Plus it has the added benefit of giving me a chance to get my hip flexor sorted. It certainly won't mean no training, I don't want to lose what I have, but it might be a period of slightly more relaxed training. We shall see how it goes. I haven't really had a period like this for, ummm, I am not sure how long. A couple of years perhaps?? Typically in the past when I have had time off it is because I am hurt. Okay, I am sort of hurt now, but that isn't really the reason for the resting this time around.
Anyway, I think I could do with it, mentally I could do with a bit of a break, and physically I think my body definitely could.
So, in the spirit of a slightly more relaxed training. Time for an easy spin on the bike.
