Routine

After the annoyance and frustration that made up training last week. This week has been off to a comparatively great start. Training has been coming together exactly as planned and so far I have achieved 100% program compliance, recovery has been holding up okay and things are generally ticking away as they should. Always a nice feeling. Good to be back in the swing of things. A bit fatigued today but looking forward to another good couple of days of training to round out the week.

On the coaching side of life, things are similarly ticking away as planned. We are really getting down to the pointy end of things now, with Busso a little over 3 weeks away. Starting to see some good signs from many of the athletes, particularly those getting ready for Ironman. Got a few niggles among the crew, but unfortunately that is not unheard of in long course triathlon. Nothing too major, and nothing that should impact race day as I think we caught most of the issues early, but frustrating for those athletes all the same. Still, on the whole things are starting to come together for most of the athletes. For those not doing Busso, there is still a wide array of other races coming up imminently. Challenge Iskanar Puteri in Malaysia, the Rottnest SwimRun in a couple of weekends time, The Tasmanian Marathon in January. Starting to see some good form and the associated confidence in Lots to racing to get excited about.

Last week really threw me a curve ball and it genuinely took me most of the week to get over it, which is unusual for me. I was quite surprised how hard that cold hit me. Now that life has returned to more of an even keel I am really enjoying my return to routine, both on the training and the coaching side of things. Looking forward to more of the same.
