Rain, rain

Rode in the rain this morning. It has been a while since I have had to go riding out in the weather, with the rather dry winter we have been having it has been a fairly easy situation to avoid. I have to say it isn't one of my more favourite activities.

The rain riding was in aid of my usual Tuesday morning Threshold coaching ride. It was one of those mornings where it wasn't raining a lot, but it was raining just enough. Once you are soaked, you are soaked, it isn't really worth arguing the degrees of how wet you are after that.

Still, it was great to see that I wasn't the only person out in the weather this morning, I did have a few of the more hardy members of the squad for company. Now, I am not going to make this a post about riding in all conditions, rain, hail or shine. I know some people are very proud that they ride no matter what,  but I don't happen to be one of those people, in my opinion horrible mornings are what bike trainers are for.

However, what was great about the group this morning wasn't that they were out in the rain, but more than they were out again. These members of the squad are easily the most consistent when it comes to this Tuesday bike ride. Sure they are there rain, hail or shine, but that is because they are there every week, no matter what. These folks aren't the fastest members of the squad, but they would have to be some of the most consistent. This consistency is typical of their attitude to training in general, turning up, getting the sessions done, day in, day out. Clockwork. While these members of the squad aren't the fastest, they are some of the most reliable when it comes to results and goals. As we see time and time again, this isn't a coincidence.

I just wish every athlete had such an attitude.
