More firsts

Soooooo

Isn't riding fun?

Have to say the ride this morning was a wee shock to the system after not riding for a couple of months. Not particularly painful or anything, just a bit slower than I remember. I also remember that it gets easier pretty quickly, but it does show that you can lose the polish of sport rather fast when you ignore it.

Still, despite the difficulty, the ride itself was rather nice. An absolutely lovely winter morning today. A teeny bit chilly to be sure, but no wind, beautiful sunrise and thankfully no rain. Winter riding can obviously be rather miserable so it was nice to get this first session of the season out of the way without unnecessary misery. I hope the rest of our Winter rides go so well, but I doubt we will be so lucky.

On the topic of firsts, I also returned to the gym today. That session didn't actually go as badly as I had feared, not too bad at all, in fact it was pretty okay. I am sure I am going to be sore in the morning, but at the moment it is all good. Great to be back in the gym too, keen to get that routine going again.

Last bit of news for today was this.

This the official re-certification of my coaching qualifications for another year. Boy, wasn't that process painful. As I have said in previous posts, I fully understand why they have increased the requirements for coaching re-validation, and on a concept level I support it. Requiring coaches to go through a significant personal develop program in order to re-new their certification will go a long way to ensuring and maintaining the quality of the coaches. However, boy, what a painful process that was. Besides a day of first aid training I probably did another 8 hours of online courses. Fair to say it took a while. I will be very happy if I don't have to go through that entire process again next year. For now I am just happy that it is done for the year.

Hooray.
